What to Expect

We get that being new in any environment can feel intimidating and awkward, so we promise not to single you out as a visitor. Instead, you’ll be warmly welcomed by some of the 800 people who call Eastminster “home,” one of our volunteers will hand you a worship bulletin so you know what to expect during the service, and they’ll help you find a comfortable seat. During the service, you’re welcome to participate or simply observe—and that goes for the offering time, too.

What about my kids?

At Eastminster, kids matter! Although children are always welcome in worship, we also offer age-appropriate environments for kindergartners through high schoolers during our 9:30am services and for kindergarteners through second graders during our 11am services. During the 11am service, Kids will start in the main service with the adults and then are dismissed to Kids service after worship. Nursery for tiny ones is available during the 9:30am and 11am services, and we offer a nursing moms area in our Kids Area. Our entire Kids team, including volunteers, have completed background checks, and we have a secure check-in process to ensure your kids’ safety.

Frequent Questions

What are the services like?

Each of our services are slightly different, but they all include music, prayer, and teaching. At the 8am and 9:30am services, you’ll experience liturgy (prayers and scripture we read out loud together), organ-led music, and hymns (“traditional” songs of the church). Our 11am services are more “contemporary,” with music led by a band, rather than an organ or choir.

What should I wear?

Folks at our 8am and 9:30am services tend to dress a bit more formally, and our pastors wear robes at those times. But you’ll see a mix of all clothing styles at every service, from work-wear to weekend-wear. So please feel welcome to dress comfortably—whatever that means for you.

How long do services last?

Our services last about an hour. For your first visit, it’s helpful to arrive 15 minutes early so you can stop by our welcome desk in the lobby. If you have children and would like them to experience our kids ministry, please arrive 30 minutes before the service begins so we can introduce you to our team and explain our secure check-in process. Read more about our kids ministry.

What kind of people attend Eastminster?

People just like you—and people very different from you, too! We’re a multi-generational church of people in all seasons of life and from all sorts of backgrounds. You’ll fit in. Don’t worry!

What else happens on a Sunday morning?

In addition to our worship services, we offer educational classes (which we call Grow Groups) for adults (9:30am and 11am), children (9:30am and 11am), and students (9:30am).
