Puerto Rico: Day 3

Today we started at our projects for the week. One group worked with a VBS getting the opportunity to teach the gospel to kids in a fun way, while also connecting with them through conversations. The other group worked in construction having a demo day at Iglesia’s new church building. The two teams met up for lunch and fellowship at Jorge’s house. Will and Tatita, our contacts for the VBS, thoughtfully surprised team member, Julianna with a birthday cake.

In the afternoon we headed out to a senior care home, meeting up with Pastor Samuel, to talk, sing and pray with some of the residents. It’s our hope it was a blessing to them; it was certainly a huge blessing to us! We had fun dinner guests, Iván and Nelly, who are long-time friends of team members Jim and Dana DeKalb. Iván lived with Dana’s family during high school after having met on a dental missions trip to Puerto Rico in 1966. Iván graciously demonstrated the proper way to crack open a coconut.

We practiced songs, debriefed and prepared for tomorrow. And were touched by the testimonies of team members Charles and Nicolette Ellison, who work with Eastminster partner Iasis. We appreciate your prayers as we humbly seek to share Christ’s love.
