The Priority of God
Jericho was the first city to be taken by the Israelites. Just as with other first fruits, everything in Jericho was to be devoted to the Lord and they are to go into His treasury. The concept of first fruits establishes God as a priority in our lives. Whether we talk about first fruits, or the concept of the tithe, or the teaching of the apostle Paul, the scripture is telling us to make the Lord a priority in our giving. Our giving has to be sufficient to be an act of faith, and to be a sacrifice. It should reflect the Lord as a priority in our lives.
