Two shifts: 9 – 11 a.m. and Noon – 2 p.m.
At Wichita’s Hunger Challenge we will gather as a church body to pack food and send hope to those in need here in the US and around the world. It’s a hands-on activity for all ages and everyone is welcome!
What is the Hunger Challenge?
This is our ffith Hunger Challenge, and it’s a tangible way to make a difference in world hunger. Often the global hunger crisis feels so big we aren’t sure what we can do, but in just two hours you can help pack meals for those facing food scarcity. Each 33-pound box contains 216 meals, and our goal is to complete at least 29,000 meals. We’ll work in assembly lines to measure food ingredients, funnel them into bags and weigh, seal and box the meals. Each meal is full of necessary nutrients and includes rice, soy, vegetables and vitamins.
Where will the food go?
Half of the food is intended to stay here in the US, as COVID-19 has increased food scarcity in our country, with one in four US households facing food scarcity in 2020. The other half of the food will be sent internationally. Heaven Sent Ministries (whom we partner with) has received many donations during the pandemic in order to purchase food, but has been without volunteers to pack the meals. We will help them get the food packed so it can be sent out across the globe.
