How We Can Help Andover

***UPDATE as of Wednesday, May 4***
Dear Eastminster family,
We have heard from so many of you who are excited to serve the Andover community – thank you! We wanted to update you that United Way has cancelled volunteer opportunities today and tomorrow due to the rain, which is when we had planned to serve together. They have opened volunteer opportunities for this Friday. So our new date for Eastminster group service is Friday, May 6, at 9 a.m. We will still meet at Andover UMC (1429 N. Andover Rd.) for check in, wrist bands and instructions. Be sure to follow United Way’s website and Facebook page for updates, as well as Eastminster’s social media.
Hope to see you Friday!

Blessings,
Pastor Ken

Tuesday, May 3
Dear Eastminster family,
The members of our community affected by last Friday’s tornado continue to be on the forefront of our thoughts and prayers. We know many Eastminster families live in Andover, and several of our members’ homes were damaged (though all, thankfully, are still standing). We are praising God for his provision and protection that no lives were lost. As a church we love our city, and want to serve and be a blessing in our community. To GO with the gospel often means to love and serve in tangible ways.

To this end, we want to partner with the work being done to clean up and restore the areas affected by the tornado. Many of you have reached out to ask how you can help. United Way of the Plains is coordinating this effort. If you wold like to help, please go to Andover United Methodist Church (1429 N. Andover Rd.) anytime this week between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. to register. United Way will provide wrist bands to allow groups into the most affected areas, and provide insurance for those who volunteer. (Follow United Way on social media for updates – facebook.com/unitedwayplains )

Eastminster Service Day
If you’d like to serve with others from Eastminster, we plan to meet at Andover UMC at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 5. If that time doesn’t work for you, feel free to come as you’re able throughout the week. We do hope to gather a group at that time so we can serve as a team. We hope to see you there!

Additionally, Eastminster Local Missions is working toward releasing funds to go to affected Andover families.

Let’s continue to pray for those facing loss, let’s continue to rally around our local community, and let’s continue to GO and serve with the love of Jesus.

GOing for the gospel,
Pastor Ken
