Apologetics: Reasons To Believe (Part 1)

Jon Grissom; Chapel

“You’re a Christian? But I always thought of you as a reasonably intelligent person. How can you really believe that stuff is true?” Have you ever found yourself asking why do I really believe, or am I just to accept it all “by faith”? In this series we will examine the facts and logic that make Christianity a reasonable faith. Taught by Trinity Academy Bible teacher Jon Grissom, we will explore such questions as: Is it reasonable to believe that God really exists? Is the Bible really the Word of God? Was Jesus a real person? Was Jesus actually the Son of God? Was the resurrection an actual historical event? Can miracles really happen? You may not be ready to be an “apologist” for your faith, but you should feel more equipped to “give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Peter 3:15). Jon is also a pastor and national director for Walk Thru the Bible Ministries. This class continues through May 2.

The Church Alive: Embracing the Impact of God’s Influence

Dave McKechnie; Fireside Room

Join us as we explore the concept that Jesus came not only to make God’s love visible but also to make God’s love unmistakable. What difference does that love make to Wichita and beyond? In this light, we will examine the consequences of being a Christian in this culture. There are good consequences, and there are bad consequences. Being mindful of consequences instantly personalizes and dramatizes the potential results of a particular action. This course will be interactive in nature, so your investment counts. Dave looks forward to discussion and dialogue with you. Dave McKechnie is Eastminster’s Interim Senior Pastor and served at Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston for more than 25 years.

Prayer Portions: Lord Teach Us To Pray

Kermit and Carol Oppriecht; C-13/14

What an important time for us to explore the importance of prayer. The goal for each of the participants of this course will be to see communication with God deepen, broaden, expand and be enriched. The texts for the course will include the Scriptures and guidance from Sylvia Gunter’s concise, thematic “instruction” manual on prayer titled Prayer Portions. Kermit Oppriecht is Eastminster’s Associate Pastor. This class begins January 18 and continues through May 2.

Becoming a Savvy Dad: Lessons on Purposeful Fatherhood

Steve Dickie; C-12

There are more than 65 million fathers in the United States, but how many are actually dads? While almost anyone can become a father, it takes purposeful effort to be a dad. This series will explore how to refocus our priorities with a biblical foundation, connect with our kids, and discover a renewed sense of passion for fatherhood. Dads are the essential component of a healthy family and have the God-given responsibility to be the best father they can be. Dads of all ages with kids of all ages are invited to join us as we explore how to become a savvy dad through purposeful fatherhood. Steve Dickie is Eastminster’s Minister of Discipleship.
