June 13, 2017

Eastminster family,
It is with great sadness that we share Pastor Bob Hopper passed away of a heart attack last night. Please pray for his wife, Tacey, and kids, Seth, Jessie and Luke, as well as their grandchildren. Most recently, Pastor Bob was serving as interim pastor at Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village, Ohio.

Pastor Bob was beloved by so many in our church family, and instrumental in the healing of our church body after a difficult season. He was an exemplary follower of Jesus whose commitment to the gospel, outstanding leadership, and loving his family and flock well left an indelible mark on many of us. We can’t wait for the day when we’ll see him again in the presence of Jesus.

Feel free to leave your thoughts, memories and condolences in the comments below.

I am a long time member of Bay Presbyterian Church where Pastor Bob has been our interim pastor in recent weeks. Our congregation has been so blessed by his ministry every Sunday and I am grateful I told him so last Sunday. When a member of our congregation called to tell me of his passing I was stunned, but as I have had time to absorb the news these past several hours, it is such a soothing balm to KNOW , beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is with Jesus. His wisdom and insights that he gifted us with every week will long be remembered. In our sadness at his death, we can be joy filled knowing precisely where Pastor Bob is and that one day we will again be with him worshiping Jesus. Praise our heavenly Father that because of Jesus, it will be so. Thank you for sharing Pastor Bob with our congregation. I will never forget the wonderful gentle man that he was and the incredible gift his ministry and insights brought to this congregation.

We were so saddened to hear of Bob's passing. It was such a shock. Bob was our Pastor at North Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and we had the honor of him officiating at our son's wedding in 2005. He always had such a passion for the Word. He will be missed tremendously and we look forward to seeing him again in the presence of our Savior! God bless his family and comfort them.

Our Lord had a good reason for calling Bob home to heaven with Him. I am a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Clayton, MO where Bob & Tacey ministered to us for about 3 years. I am so saddened by his passing but rest in the Lord's Holy plans. My love & sympathy go out to Tacey & the family. Bob with our Lord's guidance worked wonders in our Church & we will forever remember Bob. What a gift he was to us here at Central. He will continue to give a "free cup of coffee" to all. My love, Betty

To Tacey and Family, I have served on the Session of Eastminster Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years and during that time we have had a few Senior Pastors and a few interim pastors. Bob was one of the finest Interim Pastors that ever served our congregation.. What a Godly man he was. Not only was he a very fine Pastor but was a great administrator. During his stay with us he was instrumental in leading the Session in a reorganization that strengthened the church governance that continues to serve the church today. Tacey, we thank you for sharing Bob with us and we pray that you and your family are strengthened, knowing what a gifted man he was and how devoted he was to the Kingdom of God. May HIS blessings be with you and your family. .

Bob was pastor at Southport Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis during a critical transition time of the church. We were blessed to have Bob with us, albeit just a short period of time he had a huge impact on the church. I appreciated his high truth high grace massage. I always enjoyed his sermons, especially hearing about his conversion during college, his scrabble games with Tacey, his story about coming upon a bad accident with two women, one who was pregnant, and hearing about his passion for the people of Russia. My prayers to his family.
