Why I Serve Our Kids - Volunteer Stories

7-17-2018

Hey, Eastminster Family! It is my privilege to invite you to join me, Mr. Gummy, to share the joy of seeing young hearts grow in faith. It’s not complicated; your willingness to care and share is your ticket. You will be amazed at how rewarding and faith building our miracle garden can be—not just for the kids, but for those of us who tend it! Here are a few words from our gardeners:

I keep coming back because of the kids. I’ve found that not many first graders have a male role model in school, so I’ve enjoyed being part of their lives. One year we had one of the kids ask if Mr. Todd was the only “grown boy” in the class!

When I came to Eastminster for the first time, I checked "I would like to volunteer" on the Connect Card. The staff of the Kids team are so kind, wonderful and very creative. I am so blessed that I was guided to this team. It is much more satisfying than I expected. Before I joined Eastminster, I suffered from anger and anxiety, but I can feel these negative feelings have been fading away since I started volunteering.

Missing my young grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I felt God's nudge during a sermon during which Pastor Stan was telling of the need for Sunday teachers. I signed up and my life has been blessed Sunday after Sunday.

We’ve re-upped twice because the kids are so rewarding to work with. I didn’t expect to get so attached to the children; working with the little ones for two years in a row you get to see them grow and change so much.

If you’re feeling a gentle tug on your heart, we still have a few openings. Consider serving once or twice a month during the 11 a.m. Kids Worship, or play with the 3s & Pre-K kids at either service. Build a sweet relationship as a helper with a second, third or fourth grader at 9:30 a.m., or help out with Kingdom Kids on Wednesday nights. Get started today by signing up here >>
