How did you first come to Eastminster?
My family moved out to Wichita, Kan., from Detroit, Mich., when I was 11 months old. I had been baptized at Kirk in the Hills, a Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. My mom started going to Eastminster when it used to be out at 9th and Armour.
What do you love most about your job at Eastminster?
We have such an awesome staff that it’s hard not to have fun on the job. One of my favorite things right now has been eating pizza with students when they have days off from school. We call it Kno-School Knolla’s! Some of the best ministry happens eating pizza! God is good!
Other than Jesus, who has had the greatest impact on your life?
I’d have to say my dad, Bruce. He’s not afraid to ask me the tough questions and challenge my beliefs and he’s always encouraging me to do the right thing.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I’d say that I’m a former Big Jay, but I think I’ve told most people that already, so I’ll answer by saying I play ice hockey. A lot of people don’t even know we have an ice rink in Wichita, but we do and I really enjoy playing!
What are you reading right now?
The New Testament (I’m a bit ahead of Route 83, but going slower than the 30 days I originally intended to read the New Testament in). I'm also reading Why I Am Not an Arminian by Robert Peterson and Michael Williams.
What is one of your proudest moments?
Watching my wife, Amanda, walk down the aisle and agree to marry me. I definitely out kicked my coverage!
What is your favorite food?
Pizza – I could probably eat pizza every day. Cheeseburger Pizza at Knolla’s… mmmm! Buffalo Chicken Pizza at Big Cheese in Glen Mills, PA… mmmm!
What’s your favorite movie? Or, who is your favorite musician/composer/band?
Movie: Band of Brothers
Musician: David Crowder Band
Is there a Bible verse God is currently using in your life?
1 Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
What’s your biggest challenge?
Listening… I’m getting better, but I can only focus on one thing at a time…
Tell us about your family:
I have a wife, Amanda. She is beautiful, she loves the Lord, and she loves others! What a great combo! We don’t have any children… yet… but
we’ll be thrilled when God decides to provide us with a child someday.
