What committee(s) do you serve on at Eastminster?

Chair of the Personnel Committee

Budget Review Committee

What other positions do you hold at the church?

Don and I facilitate a Sunday morning fellowship of young married couples that we like to unofficially call the “Intimate Allies.” That’s really not a position we hold at church, but a privilege that brings us so much joy! Prior to this class, I taught children’s Sunday school classes for 40 years (wow! Writing that makes me feel like Methuselah’s grandmother.)

Previously, I was serving in Community. I have a huge desire to see the Get Involved project help us as members of Eastminster to get connected in ways that serve our congregation. I have also served in Spiritual Formation with an emphasis in Children’s Ministries.

Which groups or ministries are you active in at the church?

I try to be part of ongoing Bible study in small groups, sometimes, this has been with couples, sometimes with women. Leading spiritual formation groups or discussion groups, and learning with other believers is important to me.

What is your profession outside of Eastminster?

I have been Executive Director of the Pregnancy Crisis Center of Wichita, Inc., since 2000, and my life with Jesus (as a wife and mother and now, grandmother, and friend) is the best training God could have provided for me to serve in my “profession.”

What leadership/volunteer positions in the community do you hold?

I’ve done a little bit of everything it seems, and that’s one of the blessings that comes from living long and being healthy, but right now I am trying to major on the majors: my life in Christ, my family friends and listening for God’s call where that may lead me.

Family information, hobbies, interests

Don and I have lived in Wichita since 1987.  I’m from south Louisiana “bayou” country and Don is originally from Tennessee. We have four dearly loved adult sons, four amazing daughter-in-loves, and two precious granddaughters. Our daughter Rebecca Joy is reserving spots for us in Heaven, and we have the opportunity to serve Jesus here until he calls us Home.

I have 10 million things that interest me and that keep me reading, studying, and trying to live learning, and my favorite subjects are people! I love connecting with people and loving them because God loved us first.

Is there a Bible verse God is currently using in your life?

God is so good to make the Scriptures come alive to us as his children. I like to read from the Message - out loud and all by myself. I hear God speaking to me in his Word. I believe he has given me a gift of faith; I love it that he tells me to “rest” and to “be his child,” that seems very comfortable and natural an invitation to me, and I treasure looking to God as my good Father.

As far a special verse, God has reminded me many times:  “I the Lord will accomplish this for you; My loving kindness is everlasting.  I will never forsake the work of my hands.”  (Psalm 138:8) That’s his promise to me, and I have seen his faithfulness to that promise all through my life.
