What other positions do you hold at the church?
I am Vice Moderator of the Session. I also recently served on the Interim Senior Pastor Search Committee.
Which groups or ministries are you active in at the church?
I developed and implemented the Guest Services Ministry for the church. I served as the chair of that ministry for over four years. After stepping down as chair of Guest Services, I have continued to serve in Guest Services as a greeter at the south door on Sundays. I also have the privilege of serving as a valet for two members of Eastminster that have physical issues where this service really is needed.
I am a member of the Hospital Visitation Ministry, and visit the hospitals and rehabilitation centers each Friday.
What is your profession outside of Eastminster?
I taught vocal music in Milwaukee, Wis., for 10 years and worked in aircraft 21 years here in Wichita. I retired as a Boeing manager eight years ago.
What leadership/volunteer positions in the community do you hold?
I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Brotherhood Presbyterian Ministries. In that capacity I am also the Treasurer for that organization. I was on the Rose Hill Board of Education for five years and have served as president of our Homeowner’s Association for two years.
Family information, hobbies, interests
My wife, Vickie, and I have three grown children and six grandchildren. While I am retired, Vickie is still a manager at Boeing being several years younger than myself. We enjoy antiques, auctions, fishing and taking daytrips with friends. We also enjoy spending time with our kids and grandkids around the pool during the summer.
I really enjoy serving at Eastminster and especially helping to make our facility more “user friendly” for members, and guests with disabilities.
Is there a Bible verse God is currently using in your life?
I think for me God has always used the following verse in my life … even before I knew the verse:
Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it! Hebrews 13:1-2
